Nigeria Union Of Journalists (NUJ), Kaduna State Council has inaugurated 2024 Press Week Organizing Committee expected to take place in the second quarter of the year.
Acting Chairman of the Council Comrade Daniel Duniya who inaugurated the five-member adhoc committee hinted that the present NUJ leadership in the state resolved to stage a press week this year to enhance unity, spirit of comradeship and social bond through sporting activities among members.
While stressing the need to have a well organized Press Week, Comrade Duniya charged members of the organizing committee on the imperative to source for sponsorship from individuals and corporate organizations for the upcoming event.
He disclosed that the last press week was held in 2019, attributing the long inertia to covid-19 pandemic which affected most social activities due to restrictions put in place to curtail the spread of the virus.
The five-man committee will be chaired by Gambo Santos Sanga who is also the Council Secretary while Juliet Oyoyo, the immediate past chairman of National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) will serve as Secretary.
Other members of the committee are; Sabiu Danmaliki, Sahura Maidoki and Ango Bally.
Responding on behalf of other members, chairman of the committee Gambo Santos pledged to deliver on terms of reference and mandate given to the committee.
He described holding of the Press Week this year as timely and thoughtful, saying it would go a long way in improving health and physical status of members.
