NITEL/MTEL pensioners appeal to President Buhari over 64 months arrears

By Rahila Abdullahi, Kaduna

The NITEL/MTEL pensioners caucus has appealed to the President Muhammadu Buhari over the non-payment of their 64 months’ arrears which have been allegedly owed by the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate PTAD

As contained in a statement made available to newsmen by the leader of the caucus, Mr. Kunle Ojo, “we called to you concerning the arrears owed us by the PTAD whom you reached out with paternal concern mandating that we be paid all our outstanding emoluments.

“We are sad to let you know that only a meager fraction of what we are owed was released. As it stands, we are still owed 64 months, which the PTAD at the behest of the Ministry of Finance promised to clear by this February past.”

The statement explained they were yet to receive any joyful news on the significant balance of the 64 months owed them.

“In the light of this, seeing and having felt the empathetic strength of your government with a listening ear, we appeal once again that you come to our aid using your exalted offices to intervene in this settlement of our remaining 64 months arrears as we ALL are in dire need.”

“As we write you, many have died and many decrepit resulting from the tough challenges that have remained unattended as a result of this deprivation of our arrears.”

“We, therefore, defer to your excellency that your fatherly arm will prevail once again in this instance on our behalf.”
